The Nursery Ministry provides safe, healthy, and spiritually nurturing care for children during YCC worship services and occasional other events. The Nursery Ministry is staffed by adults and teens with a heart for the Lord and for young children who have committed to about 2 hours of ministry one Sunday every two months. Supervising volunteers must be 18 or older and have completed a Security Background Check. The second volunteer each Sunday may be younger than 18. Often couples do this ministry together.

The coordinator arranges a schedule of Nursery workers. This schedule is posted along with a suggested time sequence for a typical Sunday morning and other policies. Supplies such as snacks, diapers, and learning materials are kept in the Nursery on the table and in a cabinet. Scheduled workers arrive on Sundays by 10:15am and remain on duty until all children are given to their parents or other responsible person following the service. When a scheduled worker is unavailable to serve on their scheduled Sunday, it is their responsibility to arrange to trade Sundays with another scheduled worker, or in last-minute emergencies only, to call the coordinator. There are usually no meetings or special events for Nursery staff.

Just as the Lord Jesus Himself did not avoid spending His time and attention on little children (see Mark 10:13-16), perhaps you, an adult or teen of Yamhill Christian Church, will become one of the representatives of Jesus to little children. You will receive the training you need and will work alongside a coworker. Part of your time will be simple supervision and caring for practical needs such as changing an occasional diaper, but we also prioritize spiritually nurturing activities like reading a Bible story, singing simple Christian songs, and even praying for little Johnny when he gets an "owie". Psalm 8:2 says, "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise." Become a Nursery staffer—a little child may teach you something!
