“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer is the avenue God uses to bring his Kingdom to Earth. Jesus Christ gave us wonderful examples of how to pray and the Holy Spirit continues to teach us every day. A church is founded and guided by prayer. It is how God works in this world to achieve his plan. It is also the amazing personal pathway for our individual relationship with God; to enter into deeper communication, revelation, and sanctification. We also pray to bless and intercede on the behalf of others. God desires and delights in our prayers: it is a way to worship him.
One of the most important ministries of Yamhill Christian Church is the ministry of prayer. Frequently special requests for prayer are shared. Confidential prayer requests can be made privately with friends or shared with any pastor.
Sunday Mornings from 7:30-8.30. Everyone is invited to attend this prayer meeting in The Meeting House. Elders are often present and requests can be sent to Ken Watson at 971.285.1371 or Cecily Spencer at 503.880.8519.
Wednesday Night Prayer Time at 6.00pm. Everyone is invited to attend this prayer meeting in the Meeting House before Wednesday Night Connect.
Corporate Prayer. Requests are taken during Sharing Time at our Sunday worship service, as needs for congregational prayer are made known.
Crisis Prayer Team. This is a small, confidential crisis prayer team that is available anytime. If you are in crisis or wish prayer for a confidential issue, contact Cecily, Mike Mortimore or Diana Mortimore.
Prayer Chain. Need prayer or want to share a praise? For less private requests and praises, you can send an email to our prayer coordinator, Cecily Spencer. She will send the information along to those who have volunteered to be on the prayer list. To send a prayer request or to be added to the prayer list, contact Cecily at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 503-662-5348.
Pastoral Prayer. As described in James 5: 13-16, it is a special privilege for those who belong to the church to call the elders to pray. This usually happens when there is a serious illness or a need for the confession of sin. To partake of this form of especially powerful prayer, contact any pastor or elder.
“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:13-16
