The Prayer Team of Yamhill Christian Church consists of everyone who prays for the church, its people, and its ministries. At some level, participants include the entire congregation, including children. For some, this ministry becomes a major life focus, even their primary service to the church.

The function of the prayer team is to PRAY. This also implies some effort at remaining informed of needs and concerns that are prayed about. Regular meetings of the prayer team are Sundays at 8:30-10am, gathering in a Sunday School classroom in the basement of the church building. These unprogrammed meetings include some sharing of needs and concerns, some prayers of adoration and worship, attentive seeking of God's will and direction for our prayers, specific petitions for needs and concerns, and thanksgiving to God. The careful guarding of confidentiality is a priority during these meetings. In addition to meetings, the prayer team also gives time to individual prayer efforts, often daily for a half hour or more, and as needs are communicated. Cecily Spencer coordinates the communication of prayer requests during the week, mostly by email.

Scripture commands Christians to pray, as in Ephesians 6:18:

All participants in Yamhill Christian Church are strongly encouraged to grow in their practice of prayer. Sign up for prayer emails with Cecily Spencer (see below). Be attentive to the needs and concerns of others in the church and community and make a point of praying often for these needs and concerns. Consider forming prayer partnerships where you regularly communicate regarding your prayers. Make time in your daily schedule for individual and joint family prayers. Everyone is invited to regularly or occasionally visit the Sunday prayer team gatherings. Pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers, and keep on praying!!
