The Yamhill Christian Church Youth Group is a community of young people loving and supporting each other as we together seek to know God and grow in a relationship with him.

If you are in 6th to 12th grade we would love to have you as part of our group. Come and check us out!

We have a couple of weekly meetings. Youth Group is on Sunday night. Middle School (6th - 8th grade) meets from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM and the High School (9th - 12th) meets from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. We play some games, eat, hang out, sing, and sometimes we even learn something. Wednesday night we meet at 5:30 PM for dinner and then have Bible Study from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

We also do a lot of special events and retreats. These are some of the events we've done over the past couple years: Canoe Camp, wakeboarding camp at Shasta, snowboarding retreats, mission trips to Mexico and Crow Nation Indian Reservation in Montana, S.E.R.V.E. Camp, parties, theme parks, 5th quarters, movie nights, scavenger hunts, and more.

If you're really gung ho we have a Student Leadership Team (SaLT) that meets once a week to help each other grow spiritually, plan upcoming events, and sharpen leadership skills. If you want to be a part of this team you must apply first. See Duane for an application and details.

The Youth Group here at Yamhill Christian Church is committed to families. We believe that the family is the cornerstone of God's design for human relationships. We are committed to parents. Being a parent is hard. We know this. We want to be a blessing to you. We want to be a resource for you to use. Our Youth Group is designed for youth, but has a strong emphasis on making families stronger and closer to God.

Dr. James Dobson, Christian author, child psychologist, and adolescent specialist has said that every child needs at least 7 caring adults, other than their parents, that are active in their lives. Being a teenager today is different than it was when you were one. We live in a world that is changing so fast it's sometimes hard to keep up. Your children are bombarded daily with perverted ideas about love, success, sex, respect, and God. We want to be a place where your student learns who God is and grows in a relationship with him.

Our Youth Group has a lot of fun, but we endeavor to honor God in everything that we do. We desire, first and foremost, for him to be glorified by this ministry. Our mission is to love God and love others. We strive to be and make disciples, we strive to be relevant to teenagers, we strive to help teenagers grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ, and we strive to help parents be better parents.

Duane Emry, his wife, Kelly, and their 3 children, Iyana, Isabella, and Ian, joined us in August of 2005. Duane has a background in Finance and Investment Advising as well as a 6 year term in the United States Air Force. Duane has a Bachelor's Degree in Management and a Master's Degree in Economics. He has worked with Youth for the past 9 years. In the Summer of 2003 He felt called into Youth Ministry and has been a full-time Youth Pastor ever since. Duane is also the Worship Pastor here at the church. He is attending Western Seminary in Southeast Portland part-time.
